What is FPL Live

What is FPL Live

FPL Live is the real-time companion app for Fantasy Premier League. While the official FPL site updates points every 2-5 minutes, FPL Live streams live bonus point allocation (BPS), shows the captain's running total and pushes instant notifications when your players score, assist, keep a clean sheet or get carded.

FPL Live uses WebSocket connections to the official FPL data feed plus 4 third-party football data providers. Goal alerts arrive via push notification + in-app banner. The captain running total updates every 5 seconds during live matches. Bandwidth usage is minimal (50 MB/month average) to accommodate India 4G networks.

The app works alongside (not replaces) the official FPL game. You still lock your team on fantasy.premierleague.com — FPL Live adds real-time tracking on top. Think of it as 'the official FPL game + FPL Live = the ultimate India FPL live experience'.

Live bonus points tracker

The BPS tracker shows the live BPS allocation for every Premier League match — which players are accumulating the most BPS based on goals, assists, key passes, tackles and clearances. The top 3 BPS scorers per match get +3, +2, +1 FPL bonus points. FPL Live updates BPS every 30 seconds.

BPS factors: goals (24-32 pts), assists (9-18 pts), clean sheets (12 pts), key passes (3-6 pts), tackles (2 pts), clearances (2 pts), interceptions (2 pts), saves (2 pts per save for GKs). The player with the highest BPS in each match gets the +3 bonus.

Knowing BPS in real-time lets you predict your captain's final score. If your captain has 18 BPS by the 70th minute, they'll likely finish with 30+ BPS, earning the +3 BPS bonus (so 18 points instead of 15). Use this info to decide whether to keep your captain or transfer them out next gameweek.

Live captain points

Your captain's running total is shown in big bold numbers at the top of the FPL Live screen. If your captain scored twice in the first 30 minutes, you'll see the running total update live — including the BPS allocation when it's confirmed. This is the killer feature for 1:30 AM IST matches when you're half-asleep.

Captain running total updates every 5 seconds. BPS allocation updates every 30 seconds. Final score is locked at full-time. The captain points also include the vice-captain fallback — if your captain doesn't play, the vice-captain automatically becomes captain and their points count double.

FPL Live also shows the 'potential captain points' — what your captain would have scored if you'd captained a different player. This helps you learn from your captain pick decisions over time.

How this affects FPL scoring

Consider both short-term captain pick points and long-term team value, plus the impact on your bench players and chip timing windows. Use our projection tools at /predictions/ to model the outcome before locking in your squad.

Match-by-match updates

Match-by-match updates

Every Premier League match has a dedicated page in FPL Live showing: (1) the two teams' FPL assets and their live points, (2) the BPS ranking, (3) the captain's running total if you captained someone in the match, (4) live xG and possession stats, (5) the next kickoff time. Updates every 15 seconds during the match.

You can follow up to 4 matches simultaneously on the FPL Live home screen. Each match shows the current score, time elapsed, your players' live points and BPS ranking. Tap any match to open the detailed view with xG, possession and shot maps.

The match-by-match view is particularly useful for double gameweeks where you have players across 6-8 different matches. You can switch between matches to track each player's points in real-time.

Late-night IST match support

The late Sunday 4:30 PM UK kickoff (10 PM IST) and Monday Night Football (1:30 AM IST Tuesday) are the hardest matches for India managers to follow. FPL Live pushes: (1) a lineup alert 1 hour before kickoff, (2) a captain alert 30 minutes before kickoff, (3) live goal/assist/red-card alerts, (4) a final whistle alert with the captain's confirmed points total.

For the 1:30 AM IST Monday Night Football, most India managers are asleep. FPL Live's push notifications wake you only for major events (goal by your captain, red card, final whistle). The notifications have a distinct sound so you can dismiss them quickly if you don't want to fully wake up.

If you sleep through the match, the app has a 'Catch Up' feature that shows a summary of all events when you open the app next morning. The summary includes: goals, assists, cards, BPS winners, final captain points, and your net rank change.

Push notifications for goals

Goal alerts arrive within 15-30 seconds of the actual goal. You get the player name, the team, the FPL points gained (6 for a striker goal, 5 for a midfielder goal, 4 for a defender goal) and the captain points if you captained them (12 for a striker, 10 for a midfielder, 8 for a defender). Assist alerts follow 30-60 seconds later.

BPS allocation alerts arrive within 2-5 minutes of full-time. Card alerts (yellow + red) arrive within 30-60 seconds. Substitution alerts (player off the pitch, replaced by sub) arrive within 15-30 seconds.

You can customise which notifications fire in Settings → Notifications. The default is all notifications on. For India managers watching the late-night matches at 1:30 AM IST, goal alerts are essential — they let you track your captain's live points even while half-asleep.

Multi-league view

Multi-league view
Multi-league view — visual context for India FPL managers

FPL Live supports multi-league view — see your captain's running total for each league separately. Some leagues have captain-weighted scoring (captain x3 instead of x2) — FPL Live shows the right total for each league automatically.

Multi-league view is useful for managers in both classic leagues (total points) and H2H leagues (weekly head-to-head). You can see your standing in each league separately and adjust your gameweek strategy accordingly.

FPL Live also includes a 'Form Tracker' that shows the last 4 gameweeks' points for each of your players, colour-coded green (rising) or red (falling). Use this to decide which players to sell before a price fall or hold for a captain boost. The Form Tracker updates every 30 minutes during a gameweek.
